Ajuda de Berço
Ajuda de Berço (Crib’s Help) has two houses. One on Ceuta Avenue which has less light and where are the babies. Another in Monsanto with more space to run and where are the grown up kids. The architecture of the two spaces is thus taken advantage of, in order to give the best possible conditions to the children. This is the objective, “to cuddle them and contribute to a long lasting and happy project of life”. Initially directed only at infants, the project has evolved to ensure the follow-up that has been necessary in the meantime. Children enter these homes via referral of courts, child protection commissions and social security. Despite the conditions in which these children find themselves wich are very particular and delicate, the sound one hears in the institution is joyful and the environment is very familiar.
